Preparing for a Session | Arizona Lifestyle Newborn Photographer
Preserving the Beauty of the Newborn Stage.
Newborn sessions can be unpredictable, but the magic moments you share as a family make it all worth it.
Here are a few tips and tricks from me to you.
There is truly nothing quite like bringing a new baby into your home in Arizona. It’s a time that comes with so many feelings and emotions, from joy to exhaustion to utter bliss. As a parent, it’s so normal to want to remember all the little details about your precious new baby. From their peach-fuzz-covered face to the curl of their toes, every inch of your newborn is filled with so much magic and wonder.
Right alongside all those feelings of happiness is the reality that a new baby comes with a lot of responsibility. There are long nights and early mornings and endless tiny diapers to change. When you’re in the thick of newborn life, the last thing that should cause you stress is feeling like you won’t be able to remember every last loveable detail of your baby.
The best way to make the most of each moment with your new little one is through a newborn session. With professional photos, you can preserve the first awe-filled days of your child’s life without worrying that you’re going to miss something. When you book a newborn session with me, you can rest easy knowing that your memories are in good hands.
Newborn sessions are unique because we are working around the schedule of a very tiny human for the most part. I want your newborn session to remind you of all the heartwarming moments you’ve shared as a family, so I have curated a few essential tips to help your session run as smoothly as possible.
Choose the right time.
While newborns can certainly be unpredictable, they are usually most alert after they’ve eaten. It’s a good idea to schedule your session after mealtime. Don’t worry; it’s also totally okay if we need to take a break to feed your baby mid-session. It may be tricky, but aiming for a time when both mom and baby are well-rested also helps everyone feel happy and comfortable during the session.
Select the perfect location.
The setting is important for any shoot, but especially for a newborn session. You want to choose a place where you and your baby will feel content and relaxed. I highly recommend in-home sessions for these kinds of sessions because it doesn’t take your little one out of their element. As far as lighting goes, your location must have bright, natural light. For families who don’t have great lighting in their homes, we can absolutely create a soft, serene environment in a studio.
Gather the essentials.
The key to a successful newborn session is being prepared. Even when we are working out of your home, it’s a good idea to organize everything you might need in one place. Think about things like diapers, wipes, a burp cloth or two, a change of clothes, and a cozy blanket. Having everything on hand will prevent you from interrupting the session to frantically search for what you need.
New babies can be unpredictable, which means it’s important for all the adults involved to practice patience. This is a time to take a deep breath and go with the flow. If your newborn needs comfort or a little step away, we can take a break. These little humans have their own moods and emotions, and I am more than happy to work around them to give you the best possible result.
A newborn session may take some extra effort and preparation, but the special moments we capture will be worth all the work. We will do our best to create a calm, nurturing environment where you and your family can just enjoy being together. The memories you create during these sessions will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
