It is so fun to branch out from outdoor or studio photos and shoot downtown.
I’m so thrilled to share these family photos with you from the heart of Downtown Gilbert, Arizona! So much about these is unique and dear to my heart, and they turned out so beautifully. I had so much fun hanging out with Anna and her two kids during this session. Aren’t they just the cutest?
Anna is actually a close friend of mine who has recently gone through some big life changes and wanted new, fun, happy photos of her family to hang in her home. I was more than happy to help her out and set up a session! Her kids are adventurous and spunky, and these images captured their personalities perfectly.
We took Anna’s family photos in Downtown Gilbert on top of a parking garage. Though it’s not my usual location, parking garages can make for some really cool photos! There is so much space for kids to run around and you can get the Gilbert skyline in the distance. The sky really showed up for us during this session! It set the tone for a beautiful and joyful evening.
As you can tell from these photos, we had a lot of fun just being silly during our time together. For kids this age, having a handful of games or prompts in mind can be so helpful in making everyone feel comfortable. We did things like playing red light/green light and ring around the rosy, took turns skateboarding, and gave piggyback rides. All of their smiles were so happy and genuine. As a photographer, I can’t ask for more than that!

“Cayleen is AMAZING and so professional! I did a family session with her and I am usually so awkward in front of the camera, but Cayleen did a great job directing me and my kids, and making everything look so natural. My kids even enjoyed it, and that’s saying a lot!”
